da premier bet: Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah is wanted by Juventus according to Sky News Arabia, but a move to the Serie A champions would be a step down for the Egyptian.
da betway: Salah has scored 64 goals in 86 league games since joining the Reds for £31m in July 2017 and it’s no surprise that a top European club like Juventus would be interested. However, with Liverpool challenging for the title and doing so well in the Champions League last year, it seems like a move now would be too hasty.
Juventus have won Serie A the last seven years running, and although that sounds a lot more attractive than Liverpool’s record of bottling the league title, it reflects poorly on the quality of the league. Salah played for Roma before Liverpool and leaving Italy to move to England is seen as a step up, moving back would, of course, be the opposite.
The Old Lady have some money behind them now and are aiming for Champions League glory having come runners up twice in the last four seasons. Liverpool’s European campaign last season puts them in that same bracket as opposed to a Real Madrid or Barcelona, who are serial winners of the competition.
As we’ve seen with Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho, players see the likes of those two clubs as a step up from Merseyside, and if Salah was going to leave, he should ensure it’s for a club at the very top.
What Klopp is building at Liverpool is exciting their fans and players alike, so leaving before this side has hit its peak appears to be too soon. If Liverpool were to once again fail to win the title and dropped off next season, yes Juventus would turn into a step up.
As for now though, Salah should continue at Liverpool and take them as high as their ceiling stretches under Klopp and then seek a move to one of the Spanish giants.
