The Cameroonian made two crucial errors to undo an excellent away performance from Ruben Amorim's side
It just had to be him. Andre Onana made two huge errors which undid an otherwise excellent display from Manchester United against Lyon, his side leaving the Europa League quarter-final first leg with a 2-2 draw when they deserved to have a far bigger advantage.
Lyon took the lead in the 25th minute thanks to a hopeful free-kick from Thiago Almada and abysmal goalkeeping from Onana. The Cameroonian showed no authority as he sought to defend the cross and completely misjudged its flight, his gaffe only adding weight to Nemanja Matic's brutal claim that the Cameroonian is one of the worst goalkeepers in United's history.
The manner of the goal rattled United but they managed to claw back an equaliser right at the end of the first half, Manuel Ugarte volleying towards goal and Yoro glancing his shot into the net. The Red Devils found their rhythm in the second half and Joshua Zirkzee headed in a Bruno Fernandes to give them a deserved lead.
United looked primed to extend their lead but instead let the hosts back in due to more sloppy play from Onana, who spilled a shot right at the feet of Lyon's talisman Rayan Cerki, gifting him a 94th-minute equaliser.

Andre Onana (2/10):
The spotlight was on him after his needless war-of-words with Matic and it felt inevitable that he would make at least blunder. In the end he made two. It is now nine errors leading to a goal in less than two seasons. Simply not good enough.
Leny Yoro (8/10):
Showed his class and why United paid £52m ($67m) to sign him. Demonstrated his prowess going forward with his headed goal and his thrilling run through the middle in the second half.
Harry Maguire (5/10):
Pu himself under pressure in the first half with a couple of rash moments and didn't provide his usual aerial threat.
Noussair Mazraoui (7/10):
Defended with intelligence and diligence.

Diogo Dalot (6/10):
A good performance from a defensive point of view
Manuel Ugarte (5/10):
Showed his shooting threat to spark the equaliser but his passing was very hit and miss.
Casemiro (6/10):
Helped United control the middle of the pitch and was not far from scoring with an acrobatic strike.
Patrick Dorgu (6/10):
A lively presence down the left, creating an excellent chance for Hojlund.

Alejandro Garnacho (5/10):
Got at Lyon's defenders on plenty of occasions but made some bad decisions with his final ball, especially when he passed to Fernandes instead of Zirkzee.
Rasmus Hojlund (4/10):
Another performance severely lacking in confidence. Scuffed a great pass from Dorgu and had a soft shot straight at Lucas Perri. Looked devastated when he was taken off.
Bruno Fernandes (7/10):
Was frustrated for large parts of the game but was always the brains of the operation and picked out the match-winning pass for Zirkzee.

Joshua Zirkzee (7/10):
Looked to have found the winner with a fearsome header, his second goal in the knockout stages.
Mason Mount (6/10):
Got at Lyon with some intricate play. Also sparked a brawl.
Kobbie Mainoo (N/A):
Made his first appearance in two months as an 83rd-minute substitute.
Victor Lindelof (N/A):
Replaced Maguire in the 83rd minute.
Ruben Amorim (7/10):
It was exactly the performance he hoped for and his only mistake was to pick Onana over Altay Bayindir.
