da aposte e ganhe: Leeds’ 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers on Saturday wasn’t really one for the history books.
It was a routine win for the Yorkshire outfit as they overcame a side struggling in the bottom half of the table, but there was one moment that should have lifted the entire fanbase.
Indeed, Patrick Bamford finally ended his lengthy goal drought, and it was an inspired decision from the manager that allowed him to find the net again.

Bielsa’s inspired decision
The Whites won a penalty in the first-half against Blackburn Rovers, and Bamford was the man to step up and take it.
The striker isn’t usually the designated penalty taker for the Whites, as prior to Saturday Mateusz Klich had taken both of the Whites’ spot-kicks in the league this term.
However, with Bamford having a bit of a monkey on his back in terms of scoring goals it made perfect sense to allow him this great opportunity to break his duck, and he duly obliged, ending his run of ten games without hitting the net.
This goal could give him the confidence he needs to go on a bit of a run now.
Form player
If there’s one thing we know about Bamford it’s that he’s a form player.
The former Chelsea man has a knack of going on goalscoring runs.
For example, during his last season at Middlesbrough, he netted 11 goals, but eight of those came in a run of six games where he caught fire, and it was a similar story at the start of this term as he netted four goals in his first five matches.
This penalty on Saturday could be the domino that starts another chain of good performances, and hopefully, there are plenty of goals in his future.
Leeds will certainly need him firing. The pressure was on in terms of being dislodged by Eddie Nketiah but his injury setback has allowed Bamford to continue. Had he not got injured, there was a good chance the 26-year-old wouldn’t even be in the side.
He can thank his lucky stars than he was on the pitch to convert the penalty.
