da apostaganha: Manchester United failed to do Liverpool a favour in their bid to win the Premier League title as they were beaten 2-0 by Manchester City at Old Trafford on Wednesday night, and Reds fans were quick to have their say on Jesse Lingard’s display.
The England international started in an attacking role with Marcus Rashford against Pep Guardiola’s side, but he failed to make the most of the opportunities that he did get in front of goal.
Bernardo Silva and Leroy Sane went on to find the net as the visitors picked up another vital three points in the title race, with them and the Merseyside outfit separated by just one point with three matches remaining – Liverpool could conceivably finish on 97 points and still not lift the trophy for the first time.
The Anfield faithful would have had their main hopes on City slipping up at the ‘Theatre of Dreams’ as it was their most difficult game remaining on paper, but it wasn’t to be.
Liverpool supporters were obviously hoping for a lot more from Lingard in particular given he was one of the attacking players in the starting line-up, and they weren’t impressed with what they saw from the 26-year-old.
Which iconic Premier League team from the past would be a match for the Man City of today? The Pl>ymaker FC squad discuss in the video below…
While one labelled him as “terrible at football”, another said “Lingard wants City to win the title confirmed”.
