da bet vitoria: Sports journalist Pete O’Rourke has stated that a new contract has been agreed between Sheffield United and Jack O’Connell.
The 24-year-old centre-back has been a regular for the title-chasing Blades so far this season. So far in this campaign he has made 31 Championship appearances, according to Transfermarkt’s stats. However, he has not featured in any of the club’s last three league games.
Chris Wilder clearly still has plenty of faith in the defender though, if the aforementioned claim of a new contract being agreed is to be believed.
Another reason for the club to offer the Englishman is new terms is to protect his value. Transfermarkt currently estimate him to be worth £4.5million, a huge and rapid increase from the £675k valuation they held for him in February 2018.
Offering him a new deal that better reflects his worth puts the Blades in a stronger negotiating position should another club try to sign O’Connell.
Many Sheffield United fans were certainly glad to see O’Rourke state that the defender would be committing his future to the Bramall Lane club…
